Friday 8 February 2008 - Global mobile data capture device developer, Grabba International today announced that it has acquired International sports technology leader, Fusion Sport.
Grabba International is a fast-growing developer and exporter of barcode scanners, magnetic stripe, smart card and RFID readers and custom devices designed to work with a range of PDAs and Smartphones. Grabba accessories are strong, hard-wearing, yet elegant.
Grabba devices capture business data accurately, instantly and efficiently to assist with business activities such as stock-taking, asset security, cashless payments, and on-the-road ordering and sales.
Australian-based Fusion Sport developed a world-first electronic elite sport training system called SmartSpeed™, used to train and assess critical aspects of an athlete’s sports performance – speed, endurance, race-pacing, reaction time and decision making.
The system can be used in all land-based sports, in all weather, and gives coaches greater control over the training environment. It also provides athletes with more challenging training sessions and real-time performance feedback.
Grabba CEO, Frank Downes says the merger with Fusion Sport will allow both companies to broaden customer bases internationally and also allow for technology sharing that can be incorporated into future product ranges, in addition to doubling turnover.
“Fusion’s business model and existing markets will complement our current operations and we have identified definite synergies between the two businesses, such as our use of the very latest wireless technology in our products,” Mr Downes says.
“Fusion Sport will continue to provide its products and services under the Fusion Sport brand.”
Dr Markus Deutsch, Vice President of Business Development and a founder of Fusion Sport says that the merger will provide a stronger company structure and support for business expansion.
“With the backup of a larger company structure, I expect Fusion to be able to penetrate new international markets and increase our exposure in our existing markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Asia and the Middle East,” Dr Deutsch says.
Fusion’s key customers include a number of English Premier League football clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa, the Australian, New Zealand, Scottish, Welsh and Hong Kong Rugby Football Unions, Waikato, Auckland, Wellington and Otago rugby clubs, Dublin University, the UK Lawn Tennis Association, the English and Scottish Institutes of Sport, the Oceania Olympic Committee, and schools, universities and sports’ institutes worldwide.
